About NP Brownlow
Melissa Brownlow is a family nurse practitioner who believes the foundation of good care is understanding. She focuses on helping patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in the decisions being made about their treatment. Her goal is to create a collaborative experience where patients feel supported and clearly understand their care plan.
CLINICAL INTERESTS AND PHILOSOPHY
Melissa approaches patient care through education and partnership. She takes time to explain disease processes and treatment options in a way that feels approachable and clear. Once patients understand their condition, she works alongside them and their care team to decide on a treatment plan that makes sense for their individual needs.
BACKGROUND AND TRAINING
Melissa earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from Clemson University. She graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in 2011 and completed her master’s degree in 2017 with a 4.0 GPA, receiving the Award for Academic Excellence in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Prior to joining Piedmont Arthritis Clinic, she gained clinical experience at Redfern Health Center at Clemson University and the MinuteClinic in Easley, South Carolina.

Patients often share that they appreciate the time Melissa takes to listen to their concerns and help them truly understand what’s going on with their health. She values open communication and collaboration, both with patients and with the broader clinical team, including each patient’s primary rheumatologist. Her approach helps ensure care feels coordinated, thoughtful, and responsive.
