About Dr. Kumar
Dr. Suhail Kumar is a board-certified rheumatologist who approaches patient care with curiosity, depth, and respect for the whole person. Drawn to the complexity of rheumatic disease, he values taking the time to truly understand each patient’s story and believes that feeling heard is often the first step toward meaningful care.
CLINICAL INTERESTS AND PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Kumar was drawn to rheumatology because it resists simple answers. Rheumatic conditions are often systemic and complex, requiring careful thinking across multiple areas of internal medicine. He views rheumatology as both an art and a science. His approach begins with a thorough history and physical exam, paired with patient education so individuals feel informed and empowered as partners in their care.
BACKGROUND AND TRAINING
He completed his rheumatology fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, and his internal medicine residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. Dr. Kumar earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. His training reflects a strong foundation in both analytical thinking and clinical medicine.
