On-Site Extremity MRI
Adding to our high quality of care, Piedmont Arthritis Clinic has invested in on-site extremity MRI equipment allowing patients to undergo imaging of hands, knees, ankles and feet without leaving our office.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive method of using a magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of the human body. To prepare for an Extremity MRI, you will be asked to remove watches, jewelry, hearing aids, credit cards and all other metal objects before entering the MRI Suite. Unlike a full MRI, scanning tube, the localized MRI examination is performed on a dedicated, open extremity scanner with your head and most of your body outside the magnet, therefore claustrophobia is unlikely.
If you prefer to have your MRI exam performed elsewhere, we are happy to refer you to the location of your choice.
